Volvo Leads the Pack with NHTSA and IIHS Standards 11 Years Early

Today, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced an agreement made between major auto manufacturers to make Automatic Emergency Braking standard on all new vehicles by 2025. At Don Beyer Volvo of Winchester, we welcome this good news with a bit of a chuckle; Volvo has been making Automatic Emergency Braking standard on its vehicles since 2014. We’ll just wait for the rest of the pack to arrive.

“Automatic Emergency Braking is a critical part of our Vision 2020, which states that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo by the year 2020…[and] thousands of Volvo owners have already realized the benefits of this technology.” –Lex Kerssemakers, President & CEO of Volvo Car USA
